Sgt. Steve Yarberry said the man's 26-year-old son and 23- and 27- year -old nephews were invited into the home, where the son demanded money, punched his 1 father in the face and grabbed him by the neck. The nephews waved handguns, Yarberry said. The father ran out of the house with all three men following him.
A neighbor asked what was going on, and one of the men pointed a handgun at him and told him to go back inside. The men left in a 1991 white Chevrolet Caprice with tag 136 CJB, Yarberry said. An affidavit filled in federal court contended the FDA sent Wyldewood Cellars a warning in 2006 after receiving a consumer complaint over the claims. The FDA said the company continued to make the same claims on its website and at its retail outlets.
Brewer contended that when the winery got that letter, he changed the label. He said he hadn't understood that he also needed to change the advertising. He blamed bad advice. Following WWII, she worked for Russell Stover Candies, then taking on the full time job of raising their three sons.
Later she worked several years for Wheatheart Sales Tupperware as a successful unit manager. She always treasured the wonderful relationships established through the "parties" and "Tupperware She was a member of the West Side Church of God since her arrival in Wichita, where she came to be known as "Miss Kathie" by those she taught in Sunday School classes, Week Day Release Church School (in partnership with McCormick Elementary) and later, as well, by the children of those she had previously taught. She served on many boards and committees, serving with others in training Christian Education workers in the Church of God in many places across the state of Kansas. Kathie started and led a prayer ministry that affected the lives of many people. She treasured her church family and was committed to her husband and children.
She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 64 years in October, 2010. Kathie is survived by sons, Stanley (Elizabeth) Winn, Clark (Dawn) Winn, all of Wichita, and David (Kimberly) Winn, La Mirada, CA; stepdaughters, Erna Joan Lopez and Judy (Ralph) Teague, all of Opelika, AL; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Loran (Norma) Britton, of Billings, MO.
