APRIL 4, 1985 THE DURHAM SUN PAGE 7-C Deaths, funerals in Durham County D.T. Bailey De Witt Talmage Bailey, 89, of 2008 S. Miami died this morning in the emergency room of Durham County General Hospital. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Bethesda Baptist Church.

Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. A native of Person County, he was a graduate of Cary High School and had been a resident of Durham for 56 years. He was a tobacconist and purchased tobacco for American Tobacco Co. for 29 years. Later he operated the Victory Warehouse in Carthage.

He was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church where he had served as deacon. He was a member of the Sidney Little Sunday School Class. He was a charter member of Bethesda Fire Department and Bethesda Ruritan Club. He served on the board of directors of the fire department. Surviving are his wife, Daisy Barbee Bailey; two daughters, Frances Ennis and B.

Layton, both of Durham; three grandsons; and four greatgrandchildren. Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. For many years, he was on the board of directors of the North Carolina Laundry and Cleaners Association. Eakes served in the 30th Division of the Army during World War I and was a charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a native of Durham and attended I Durham city schools. He was a member of Duke Memorial United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Jessie Neal Eakes; a daughter, Mary Madison Eakes Fullenwider of Durham; a sister, Mrs.
