[Speed] DOC 3.0 Slow upload - Allentown PA

I picked up the new cisco modem today and it's all set up.

I'm getting 57 to 62 mbps download, both wired and with my wireless n network (had to change the bandwidth from 20/40 to 20mhz since 20/40mhz reduced my wireless throughput to 20mbps download).

However, I'm only getting 1.5mbps upload. I tested on rcn's testing page and also speedtest.net. It's supposed to be up to 6mbps upload. On my 20/2 connection, I had around 2.1 upload speed.

Anyone else having this issue?

Post your encoded mac from the RCN speedtest page. Also, what is your modem provisioned for? It could be a matter of the upload not being bumped to the correct speed.

Btw how is it gaming on that 60Mbps pipe? [Speed] DOC 3.0 Slow upload - Allentown PA - Astound (3)

I just called and they said it's "within range" after running a bunch of tests, but the upload speed was a little low.

What should I do next? Call and make sure i'm provisioned for the 6 mbps upload? I'm getting consistent 58-62 download speed.

I love the download that's for sure. Gaming is unreal.

they are sending someone out on saturday... if the problem is the router, i'll be charged $49.99. It ain't the router. I have a Belkin n750 top of the line. The upload speed is still less than 2 mbps when directly connected to the modem. He should I should receive at least 4.

On my RCN account they have me down for a CISCO 3010 modem, but mine is the 3008. The serial number is correct. Would this cause my upload speed to be so low?

Someone came out this morning. Seems the return frequency is not right. It's 30700000, so I'll never get above 2 upload. Someone is coming out to look at the main wiring next week, since it seems it's wired correctly for downloads but not for uploads. No one else in my apartment complex has this service.

Does this sound like it's the issue?

307 is the correct return frequency...

Can you paste the levels from the speedtest page? Transmit Power, Forward Power, and Forward Signal to Noise Ratio.....

All of those stats are in range. So the return frequency is not the problem? The guy who was out here had no idea what he was doing? This run around is getting old.

transmit 30.5
forward 1
forward signal to noise 37.8

I didn't ask if they were in range...the "RCN range" is different than "real world range" [Speed] DOC 3.0 Slow upload - Allentown PA - Astound (6)

30.5 transmit is too low. Upwards of 40 is what it should be.

But this might not be the problem....did you try factory resetting the modem (use a pin to press the reset button)?

I assume you've tried using speedtest.net as well, sometimes the RCN speedtest isn't accurate.

speedtest.net... same results... slow upload, 1.4 to 1.8 tops.

So what do you think the problem is? Wiring in the area? Or a bad modem?
