Blu B Subpar acting & editing, terrible cinematography, generic music, and terrible pacing right out of the gate. The amount of talent wasted here is just mind boggling to think about. J.T. is not good. I think he's trying to be a young naive character but he confuses naive with clueless and lost half the time it seems. It feels like he has to think before he says anything and never feels natural. Everyone else is either cartoonishly over the top, never acts how a normal human would, never likeable, and the villians are stupid. The cinematography is a complete mismash of different styles constantly and never feels consistant save for the fact it usually feels lifeless most of the time. Shaky Cam, Deep focus, dynamic angles, close ups, so dark you can barely see, there is no style at all on top of the scenes being stupid. This is trying to be like a cross I think between Chinatown and Heat but just never in the slightest works. The plot is so stupid and farfetched that I'm not sure even the best of the best director could make it good. And it jumps around terribly and never understands how to build suspense, character setup, or stay focused. Skip this completely. Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/28/24 Full Review Farah R For its star-studded cast with Morgan Freeman and Kevin Spacey, this movie is substandard and feels like a low-budget indie film. Edison is trying to be a deep movie when it's, in fact, impossible to take Justin Timberlake seriously. Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/22/24 Full Review Matthew A Reviews from the "Pros" This movie sucks! overall...Reviews from the real people... 50/50 at best...Review from me - This flick WAS too short for the storyline, with little to no backstory, no real beginning, and no ending. The dialogue from JT at the end suffers compared to even Ferris Bueller (Classic close). The flow was like a Sony Discman from days gone by, a lot of pieces were missing. The action was okay, the plot was okay, the acting was okay, overall the movie was just okay. It deserves an okay score, but not a waste of time invested, just an eeeeh, it was okay... Did I say okay enough? You watch, and be the judge yourself. Invest the time, after all, it's only an hour and a half. The time I invested, was worth it overall. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/28/23 Full Review Frank C First off, dismiss all the negative reviews. These so-called 'critics' must have been burned out watching other corrupt cop dramas before they saw this movie. We've all seen this topic before. 'Black and Blue', '21 Bridges', 'Sabotage' come to mind. Those three were good films. This one did not disappoint. While most reviewers waste words with the plot, I won't. Edison had enough layers that you weren't bored. David Burke wrote and directed a gritty, suspenseful tense thriller you won't regret watching. Of course, there were some over-the-top moments, (the end shootout) but you won't turn away. Freeman and Spacey add a little grit to its overall theme. Edison did not deserve the reviews it received at the Toronto International Film Festival and that's a shame. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/18/23 Full Review April J The motivation for the Pollack character was….what exactly…?? And did they ever publish that story…? Morgan Freeman played "mentor" but also the "I'm too old for this trope???" The best person in the movie was LL Cool J! The plot sounds amazing on paper, disappointed the directors and writers couldn't reflect that on film! Rated 2.5/5 Stars • Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/14/23 Full Review Wade S It was terrible but I loved it Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/29/23 Full Review Read all reviews
